St. Philip wins 21st volleyball state championship

The St. Philip Catholic Central High volleyball team beat Oakland Christian 3-2 to win the MHSAA D-4 state championship at Battle Creek’s Kellogg Arena Saturday, Jan. 16. The title is the 21st in STP school history and the 11th for coach Vicky Groat (mom Sheila Guerra won 9). The Tigers won 25-8, 25-15, 22-25, 22-25 and 17-15.
